Primary Objectives of this Position: The job of Food Service Coordinator was established for the purposes of serving, distributing, ordering and tracking food items; providing complete and accurate documentation and audit trail for meals served, and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition. REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Maintains accurate record-keeping in accordance with state and federal requirements for the food service program, including food audits. Arranges food and beverage items (e.g. placing in steam tables, a la carte trays, etc.) for the purpose of making items available to students and staff. Cleans utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation, and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions. Inspects food items, work areas, etc. (e.g. personal hygiene, proper food temperatures, etc.) for the purpose of preventing cross-contamination of foodborne illnesses. Loads carts, food warmers, trays, etc. for the purpose of ensuring that food and/or beverage items are at the right temperature. Serves one or more items of food for meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel. Plans and establishes meal menus every month and ensure that these menus are communicated to site students, scholars, and parents Monitors student behavior in the cafeteria and promote a positive dining atmosphere. Assists with other school nutrition and student supervision duties as assigned. Serves after-school snacks and maintains records as required. Responsible for submitting food claims through CLICS. SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating equipment used in the school cafeteria; maintaining accurate records; and providing customer service. Training provided. ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data, and consider a number of factors when using the equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data, and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem-solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem-solving with data may require independent interpretation, and problem-solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of a team; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working with children.
