About The Position

The Food Service Aide provides safe, timely, and accurate preparation, assembly, delivery, and clean-up of meals and food items for patients, residents, and guests. This role supports quality care and customer satisfaction by following department procedures, food safety and sanitation guidelines, and customer service standards. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering patient trays and nourishments, assisting in retail/cafeteria service, cleaning and sanitizing dishes and equipment, stocking supplies, and maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
  • Knowledge of safe food-handling is desirable
  • Must be able to access intranet for email and hospital communications

Responsibilities

  • Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements
  • Practices safe food handling procedures, including cleaning, handling, storage, and sanitation
  • Provides excellent customer service which may include assisting patients with tray set up and customers in café or catering, completes service recovery when necessary
  • Follows all portion control guidelines to maintain high food quality and customer-focused service
  • Follows department policies on cash handling procedures
  • Promotes safe working environment
  • Uses effective communication and works as a team with all areas of the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned
