About The Position

The Food Safety & Compliance Coordinator oversees the facility’s Food Safety Plan and ensures compliance with all internal and external food safety and regulatory requirements. This role administers preventive controls, verification activities, raw material and process risk assessments, and GMP programs including Personnel Practices, Sanitation, Food Defense, and Allergen Control. The role leads internal and external audit activities, oversees 3rd‑party certification programs (Kosher, Halal, Organic, Non‑GMO), and maintains document and specification control. The role also coordinates customer-facing compliance documentation, ensures timely completion of supporting records, and develops and tracks KPIs, reporting findings to Operations for corrective action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years of Food Safety and Quality Management System (GFSI recognized) experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • 4+ years of HACCP management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to speak candidly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of audit experience (regulatory, external, and internal).
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical QA/QC lab environment for the food, pharmaceutical, or related industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all Food Safety Plans
  • Manage all Preventive Controls and verification activities including the Supplier Approval Program, Allergen control, process preventive controls, metal detector logs, thermal process reviews, food defense program, and production paperwork audits.
  • Oversees Pest Control program
  • Perform monthly food safety audit of plant and manage closeout of findings
  • Prepare for and lead all third-party facility audits including Kosher, Halal, BRC, CDPHE, FDA, Organic, Non-GMO, and co-man audits.
  • Prepare for and manage the internal audit program. Ensure training for all internal auditors and ensure nonconformances are tracked and closed prior to 3rd-party audits.
  • Oversee document control and change management.
  • Manage finished product release including review of test results against product specifications, batch paperwork review, and creation of finished product Certificates of Analysis (COA’s)
  • Verify incoming COA’s for raw materials and release for use in Production.
  • Maintain and update product specifications.
  • Coordinate customer inquiries and complaints in collaboration with Sales.
  • Ensure timely communication and documentation for all customer-facing issues.
  • Manage public-facing database of compliance documents.
  • Create compliance statements and customer questionnaires.
