About The Position

GLISS is now hiring reliable, hard-working individual to join a fast-paced food production facility in Salem, OR as a Material Handler for their warehouse operations. Willing to train an individual with limited food production experience but MUST have a minimum of 3 years of warehouse experience. Ability to learn quickly and perform detailed work in a loud and busy environment.

Requirements

  • Able to follow directions for assigned tasks.

  • Able to repeatedly lift 50-60 lbs.
  • Able to tolerate adverse weather conditions occasionally.
  • Able to see and read meters, charts, small labels, etc.
  • Able to wear PPE (safety glasses, work boots, dust masks, etc.)
  • Able to physically access necessary areas of the office, plant, and warehouse
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in Warehousing or Distribution in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in food manufacturing or distribution.
  • Knowledge of FIFO and warehousing best practices.
  • Forklift experience.

  • Ability to occasionally work under pressure to complete time sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to occasionally work with flexible scheduling (during twice yearly inventories).
  • Continuing education in Industrial Technology or related field desired.
  • Food Manufacturing or closely related experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Material Handling & Forklift Operation
  • Safely operate sit-down and/or stand-up forklifts, pallets jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks.
  • Move raw materials, ingredients, packaging material, and finished goods to designated areas.
  • Pick and stage items for shipping/production from pallets or racking by hand and/or forklift.
  • Inventory & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of the movements of inbound, outbound, and internal material (i.e. picking tickets, trailer reports, production requests, etc.).
  • Perform periodic inventory checks and assist with accuracy verification.
  • Label and organize inbound material.
  • Report shortages/overages to supervisor when needed.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all food safety, GMP, and sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse to ensure a hazard-free work area.
  • Inspect forklifts and report maintenance needs.
  • Adhere to OSHA, company safety policies, and quality standard
