About The Position

Sodexo’s Campus Segment is looking for a Food Operations Manager 2 for the University of Maine, located in beautiful Orono, Maine. Situated along the Stillwater River, UMaine is a vibrant, flagship institution serving the state, the nation, and the world through its teaching, research, and outreach mission. The University of Maine is a showcase account for the state and one of the largest campuses in Sodexo’s New England portfolio. Dining operations include Residential Dining, Retail, Catering, and Concessions, serving over 3,200 residential students and the greater Orono community. The campus features Division I athletics, frequent community events, and innovative dining technology such as KiwiBots—making it a high-visibility, high-impact environment for a strong hospitality leader. This Food Operations Manager will have oversight of the largest Retail Outlets on campus, maintaining all standards of the multi-brand concepts. Sodexo provides college campuses with food, nutrition, environmental, and facilities management solutions. Requirements

  • Have experience managing multi-unit retail operations, preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Be comfortable with digital tools, reporting systems, and emerging retail technologies.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide frontline teams.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with high standards for food and service.
  • Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experienceMinimum Management Experience - 2 yearsMinimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure a zero-harm mindset—prioritizing the safety of our teams, guests, and food.
  • Oversee daily operations across retail dining locations, including branded concepts, and Catering operations.
  • Drive exceptional food quality and customer service across all units.
  • Uphold Sodexo’s financial control protocols.
  • Deliver and maintain high client satisfaction through strong service execution and team leadership.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support front-line staff, supervisors, and (6) managers in daily activities.
  • Implement and maintain HACCP safety programs, Sodexo initiatives, and operational standards.
  • Lead training efforts related to opening/closing procedures, compliance, and team development.
