About The Position

Purchase all food and beverage products. Analyze prices and quality of products to determine value. It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will assist the Director of Purchasing in maintaining an optimum inventory of food & beverage supplies for the hotel. This position requires consistent adherence to policies and procedures of the department as outlined in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOP’S).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a beverage clerk required.
  • Must be able to: Speak, read, write and understand the English language.
  • Compute accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Provide legible communication and directions.
  • Lift, push, and pull at least 20lbs daily and throughout the day at all times.
  • Stand at least 90% of the time.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Think clearly, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Understand guest’s service needs.

  • Use, carry, and operate all necessary office equipment using finger dexterity.

  • Visually look at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Adapt to moderate temperatures in the hotel as thermostat is controlled by hotel environmental systems. Most work tasks are performed indoors.

Responsibilities

  • Must maintain par stock requirements and inventory turnover standards.
  • Analyze and select vendors based on pricing, quality and service.
  • Guarantee that on a daily basis all Food and Beverage requisitions are issued on time and accurately.
  • Coordinate with the Receiving Supervisor/Clerk that all goods are dated and stored properly.
  • Maintain the shelving on the food storeroom to assure that the inventory items are sheet to shelves.
  • Conduct a daily spot check to ensure that all food and beverage storeroom procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain work area clean.
  • Participate in month end food and beverage inventories along with the end of month reports.
  • Grow vendor relationships and understand their capabilities. Be able to resolve problems and implement solutions/improvements based on customer needs and internal operational requests.
  • Determine quantity to order based on forecast, on hand inventory, and supplier delivery schedule and lead-time.
  • All other duties as requested.
