Food and Beverage Director Rivers of Grosse Pointe Independent Living is hiring an experienced Food and Beverage Director. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with our active senior population while delivering top-tier customer service in all dining experiences and running the café. This in-person, hands-on position will directly supervise staff, ensure appetizing diets and service delivery, and create an atmosphere of respect and joy for staff and residents. Responsibilities Include: Supervising Staff: Interviewing, hiring, training, managing, and retaining employees; Planning, assigning, and directing work, including performance feedback; managing schedules and staffing, including payroll and timekeeping functions. Food, Dining, and Restaurant Services: Curate and manage a three-week rotating menu program delivering diverse, high-quality dining experiences for residents. Coordinate weekly food and supply orders with multiple vendors to maintain efficient kitchen operations and adequate inventory levels. Control food and labor costs, manage budgets, and oversee inventory to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Experience working a grill station in a professional kitchen environment is preferred. Is present during meal service, including participation in preparation, set-up, service, and clean-up, to ensure excellence. Creates and maintains a respectful atmosphere of joy within the organization, encouraging both nutrition and community related to dining, including any modifications, managing and resolving issues or meeting expectations Is willing and able to step into any position to ensure excellence of Resident experience Assist in overseeing dining services operations of the restaurant and café, including inventory and supplies ordering. Assisting in tabletop and alcoholic beverage inventories. Responsible for handling all food and beverages in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards; Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food service; Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines. Maintains food service workspaces in clean and safe condition at all times according to facility procedures. Cleans workspaces, cooking and serving equipment, trays and dishes according to department procedures. QualificationsQualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Preferred: one-year or more experience in an institutional food service setting with one year or more as a Food & Beverage Director. Experience with employee supervision, within a healthcare or Food Service environment, preferred Experience working with the senior population Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.
