About The Position

The Fluid Milk Production Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining press equipment used in milk and dairy product processing (ie. HTST and VAT pasteurization). This role ensures the efficient and sanitary production of milk products by adhering to all safety, quality, and operational standards. The operator monitors equipment performance, manages production flows, and supports overall dairy processing operations. The specialized skills and qualifications desired of the applicant in this field of production are designated below:

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in a dairy, food, or beverage manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (FSMA, GMP).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in cold/wet environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pasteurization equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Forklift experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Fluid milk machinery and related equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Set up and adjust machinery to ensure proper function during production runs.
  • Monitor equipment and product quality during operation; make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform routine checks for product consistency, temperature, and flow rates.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work area in compliance with food safety standards (e.g., FSMA, GMP).
  • Set up/tear down and daily sanitation of tanks.
  • Follow all legal standards set by the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) for the production and processing of Grade A milk.
  • Complete production records, batch logs, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the supervisor immediately.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and minor repairs on press equipment.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Support other production areas as needed to maintain workflow and productivity.
