Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling via telephone, in‑store intercom, and direct interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director as needed.
  • Take special orders from customers in person or by phone.
  • Order balloons, helium tanks, plants, flowers, related merchandise, accessories, and supplies.
  • Ensure freshness, quality, and variety of floral products.
  • Monitor special‑occasion merchandising needs, seasonal promotions, sales trends, and customer feedback.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes according to company procedures to ensure profitability.
  • Prepare floral designs to company standards.
  • Create bows, inflate balloons, prepare bouquets, and upgrade plants and arrangements.
  • Follow and maintain all department standards such as floral upgrades, balloon upgrades, and candy arrangements.
  • Understand and follow department opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure correct pricing and signage for all merchandise.
  • Assist floral designers and sales team members in completing daily tasks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Maintain specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train employees in store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement.
  • Initiate personnel actions including interviewing, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Adhere to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines for all floral products.
  • Properly condition and handle indoor/outdoor plants, shrubs, flowers, and cut floral materials.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; complete physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control shrink and cost through correct receiving, rotation, and production procedures.
  • Maintain accurate department records and process administrative paperwork.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques.
  • Operate equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, stem cutters, choppers, wire tools, hot glue guns, spray paint, heat‑sealing machines, and helium tanks.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas.
  • Enforce code‑dating requirements for all products.
  • Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Ensure all employees comply with company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, performance metrics, and opportunities to employees.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.

  • Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans.
  • Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
