Heather Hill Health Care Center is seeking a dependable and skilled Floor Technician to help maintain the appearance, safety, and cleanliness of our facility. About the Role Our Floor Technicians play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all flooring throughout the facility. This includes hard floor surfaces (tile, linoleum, hardwood) as well as carpeting. You’ll perform a variety of floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, waxing, stripping, shampooing, and polishing to keep our environment looking its best and reduce risks like slips, trips, and falls. This role reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and requires coordination with other departments to ensure that floor care does not disrupt resident care or daily facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral/written instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Knowledge of housekeeping supplies, equipment, and proper equipment care
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices
  • Ability to lift over 100 lbs occasionally; must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in various indoor/outdoor conditions
  • Ability to work tactfully and professionally with residents, staff, families, visitors, and regulatory personnel
  • Must present a professional appearance
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends/evenings as needed
  • Must meet all local health regulations and pass required health screenings, drug testing, background checks, and reference verifications
  • Must attend required in-service and education programs
  • Must protect resident health information and report suspected violations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care for all flooring surfaces (vinyl, carpet, tile, stone, etc.)
  • Safely operate power tools, hand tools, and cleaning equipment
  • Strip floors, remove wax/sealers, apply new finishes, and maintain high-gloss surfaces
  • Perform carpet cleaning using steam or dry foam methods
  • Clean and scrub tile and quarry stone floors
  • Follow floor-care schedules and directives from the Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and supplies are properly cleaned and stored after use
  • Adhere to Infection Control guidelines and Standard Precautions
  • Follow all safety procedures, report hazards, and ensure proper chemical handling
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas
  • Attend required in-service training
  • Coordinate housekeeping tasks with other departments to avoid interruptions in resident care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
