About The Position

The Floor Technician at Lemontree Healthcare is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of all floors throughout the facility. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the facility's infection control measures by ensuring that floors are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and polished according to established protocols. The Floor Technician will use a variety of floor care equipment, chemicals, and techniques to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in patient care areas, public spaces, and staff areas.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in floor care, janitorial services, or environmental services is preferred.
  • Experience using floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and waxers is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Formal training in floor care techniques or equipment operation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of floor cleaning techniques, tools, and products.
  • Ability to safely operate floor care machinery and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and cleaning procedures.
  • Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, bend, lift, and stand for extended periods.

  • Flexibility in working hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the facility’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Floor Cleaning & Maintenance: Sweep, mop, buff, and strip floors in patient rooms, hallways, dining areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces.
  • Perform detailed cleaning and maintenance of floors in all areas, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and sanitation are met.
  • Operate floor care equipment such as auto-scrubbers, buffers, waxers, and vacuums to maintain floors in optimal condition.
  • Floor Care Procedures: Strip, wax, and polish floors in high-traffic areas to ensure a clean and professional appearance.
  • Apply floor finishes to maintain the integrity and aesthetic quality of floors.
  • Follow proper procedures for cleaning and disinfecting hard floors, including specialized care for different floor types (e.g., tile, vinyl, terrazzo).
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to cleaning chemicals and equipment use.
  • Place wet floor signs in appropriate areas to alert staff and visitors to slippery conditions.
  • Ensure that all cleaning supplies and chemicals are used in accordance with established safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
  • Inspection & Reporting: Inspect floors regularly to identify damage or wear and report any issues (e.g., cracks, chips) to the Environmental Services Supervisor.
  • Assist in conducting regular floor maintenance assessments and provide feedback on the condition of flooring across the facility.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of floor cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that supplies are ordered in a timely manner to avoid shortages.
  • Follow established procedures for the storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals and materials.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other Environmental Services team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient floor care management.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors about cleaning schedules and any safety measures in place during cleaning processes.
  • General Facility Cleanliness: Assist with general housekeeping duties as needed, including removing trash and cleaning high-touch surfaces in common areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage rooms and cleaning areas.
