The Floor Coverage Manager is the operational backbone of The Plex Athletic Club during their shift. Working under general supervision, this role ensures the club is clean, safe, and running smoothly across all departments — from the moment the doors open to the moment they close. You are the go-to person for staff, members, and management when something needs to get done.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 2 or more years of related experience in a comparable role.
  • Certification: Current CPR certification required.
  • Genuine passion for member service with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid time management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple departments simultaneously.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure, with the alertness to respond quickly in any emergency.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility.
  • Perform physical tasks including kneeling, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform light equipment setup and take-down.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work safely with cleaning chemicals and other potentially hazardous materials.
  • Remain observant of member activities and surroundings at all times, prepared to respond to any emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Open and/or close the club according to established standards; submit completed checklists to the Sales Manager.
  • Serve as on-the-floor supervisor for all early morning and evening staff.
  • Ensure all club departments are properly staffed and operating according to club standards throughout the shift.
  • Handle member and employee incidents, accidents, and service concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate emergency responses — including power loss, fire, earthquake, major injury, and equipment failure — and communicate with appropriate parties.
  • Verify that housekeeping staff complete all checklists and that the club meets all cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Ensure all point-of-sale registers are properly stocked with change; complete cash drops at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain accountability for the club's master key(s) and walkie-talkie.
  • Cover breaks in any department as needed; reallocate staff between departments where necessary.
  • Conduct club tours and issue guest passes to prospective members following sales protocols.
  • Manage lost-and-found items and claims; ensure secure storage.
  • Practice energy conservation throughout the facility.
  • Check and adjust pool and spa chemical readings at prescribed intervals; report results to Club Management.
  • Communicate all problems and incidents to department managers via daily report.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned by the management team.
