About The Position

National Aviation Services is looking for dedicated Floor Technicians to perform airport janitorial functions at the STL - St. Louis International Airport. A Floor Care Technician is responsible for the specialized cleaning and maintenance of hard surface floors and carpeted areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and presentable at all times. This role requires expertise in using various floor care equipment, chemicals, and techniques to maintain flooring in high-traffic environments such as terminals, gates, restrooms, and common areas.

  • Must secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as airports never close
  • Work overtime on short notice in emergencies or when operationally necessary
  • Applicable valid driver’s license as required by airport authority in order to operate a vehicle or equipment.
  • High school education or GED
  • 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and scheduled floor care including: Stripping, waxing, and buffing hard floors
  • Carpet extraction, shampooing, and spot cleaning
  • Burnishing and sealing various floor surfaces
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, carpet extractors, and wet/dry vacuums
  • Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA and manufacturer guidelines
  • Monitor and inspect floors for cleanliness, damage, or safety hazards and report issues promptly
  • Follow all airport security, safety, and environmental protocols
  • Maintain janitorial closets and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding supply needs and maintenance issues
  • Support general janitorial tasks as needed, including restroom maintenance and trash removal
  • Other duties may be assigned
