Join us in delivering critical engineering analyses, supporting floodplain management, and applying GIS and modeling tools that help protect communities, infrastructure, and the residents of Maricopa County. As a paid intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience, work alongside industry professionals, and see firsthand how your contributions support real-world engineering decisions and projects. We are offering three intern positions to support professional staff in the Engineering and Floodplain Permitting Divisions. One position is available in the Floodplain Permitting Division, and two are within the Engineering Division: the Special Projects Branch and the Engineering Application Development and River Mechanics Branch. About Us Flood Control? In a Desert? Absolutely! Though Maricopa County is in a desert, floods do occur during two distinct rainy seasons – the summer monsoon and winter frontal rains. Although the Flood Control District has made great progress over the years building and operating flood control structures, work remains to be done as the county continues to be one of the fastest growing in the United States.
