We are seeking a flexible, motivated Float Occupational Therapist (OT) to support our acute‑care teams at The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC) and MidState Medical Center, with opportunities to serve patients within the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute (COI)—a national leader in joint replacement and orthopedic surgery. Requirements

  • Graduate of Occupational Therapy Program from an accredited American Occupational Therapy Association school, BS degree or entry level master's degree.
  • Current CT Occupational Therapist License required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional evaluations focused on ADLs, cognition, safety, vision/perception, fine motor skills, and mobility
  • Establish patient‑centered goals with families and care teams
  • Provide evidence‑based interventions including self-care retraining, neuromuscular re‑education, cognitive therapy, therapeutic exercise, and orthopedic functional rehabilitation
  • Collaborate closely with COI clinicians to support exceptional outcomes for patients recovering from joint replacements, spine surgeries, and upper extremity procedures
  • Educate patients and caregivers to support safe transitions home
  • Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care coordination
  • Provide mentorship to COTAs, rehab aides, and OT students
