We’re excited to welcome a Float Physical Therapist (PT) who will support inpatient acute‑care rehabilitation services across The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC) and MidState Medical Center, including opportunities to collaborate with the nationally recognized Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute (COI)—leaders in joint replacement, spine care, and orthopedic innovation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program
  • Current Connecticut Physical Therapy license (or temporary license at time of hire)
  • Acute care experience highly preferred
  • New graduates with strong acute care clinical experience encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive acute‑care evaluations, including strength, mobility, cardiopulmonary tolerance, and functional independence
  • Develop individualized goals with patients and families
  • Provide skilled interventions including mobility training, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re‑education, and post‑surgical orthopedic rehabilitation
  • Participate in discharge planning, care coordination, and interdisciplinary rounds
  • Collaborate with COI clinicians to support high‑quality outcomes in patients undergoing joint replacement, spine surgery, and other orthopedic procedures
  • Supervise PTAs, rehab aides, and students as needed
