About The Position

The Flight Supervisor oversees all UAV flight operations for assigned projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of aerial inspection activities. This role serves as the primary authority for UAV operational oversight, crew supervision, mission approval, and coordination with project management, inspection teams, and client representatives. The Flight Supervisor is responsible for operational leadership, regulatory compliance, risk management, and overall flight safety performance.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of FAA Part 107 regulations, airspace classifications, waivers, and operational compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities in a field operations environment.
  • Ability to conduct operational risk assessments and enforce safety standards consistently.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple crews and schedules simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including reporting and documentation.
  • Proficiency with UAV fleet management systems, flight planning software, and inspection platforms.
  • Ability to make sound operational decisions in dynamic or higher-risk environments.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional UAV operations experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.
  • Extensive experience supporting utility, infrastructure, or linear asset inspection projects required.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required).
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all UAV pilots and flight operations on assigned projects.
  • Reviews and approves flight plans, mission parameters, risk assessments, and airspace authorizations prior to deployment.
  • Ensures full compliance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates daily production objectives with Project Managers, inspectors, and field teams.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for UAV operations, flight safety matters, and regulatory adherence.
  • Conducts operational briefings, tailboard meetings, safety meetings, and performance discussions with flight personnel.
  • Oversees UAV equipment inventory, maintenance scheduling, firmware updates, and operational readiness.
  • Supports incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitors productivity, quality metrics, and data standards to ensure contract compliance.
  • Provides operational reporting, performance analysis, and strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Identifies operational risks and implements mitigation strategies within scope of authority.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
