About The Position

Flight instructors are responsible for the supervision and mentorship of assigned flight students enrolled in the missionary aviation flight-training curriculum. This includes, but is not limited to flight and ground instruction, providing assistance with the development and maintenance of the flight and ground school curriculum, the evaluation of assigned students and encouraging their development as a professional missionary aviator, under the supervision of the respective course Flight Supervisor. It is important to remember that as we equip students with the tools of aviation technology, our core purpose is to invest in young men and women through mentorship and life on life discipleship, instilling within them a heart and passion honor the King with their lives. Therefore, mentoring staff and students in a manner that demonstrates the department's concerns of honoring the King, caring for people, achieving and maintaining excellence and increasing effectiveness, is a key component of the flight instructor's role.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and unreserved commitment to MBI's mission, doctrinal statement, and Moody Aviation's traditional distinctives and standards.
  • FAA approved Flight Instructor (CFI) Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL)
  • Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Airplane (CFII) prior to teaching in the Instrument and Commercial curriculums
  • Certified Flight Instructor Multi-Engine Land (MEI) prior to instructing in the multi-engine curriculum
  • Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
  • Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Greater than 1000 hours ASEL and 500 hours instruction Given
  • Master's Degree
  • Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (A&P certification)
  • Experience supervising, encouraging, motivating and assessing students

Responsibilities

  • Model a high level of aviation professionalism, integrity and servanthood to our staff and student body while exercising conservative judgement and safety awareness in all operations.
  • Model and abide by the 14 Code of Federal Regulations and Moody Operations Manual.
  • Follow and reinforce with your students the standardized practices and procedures established by the Moody Aviation 141 flight school.
  • Serve as a team player.
  • Provide professional ground and flight instruction in the course offerings as assigned.
  • Assure assigned students are adequately prepared in knowledge, skill and attributes of a professional airman and representative of Christ.
  • Conduct pre and post flight briefing and critique sessions with assigned students to assure comprehensive learning.
  • Accomplish monthly assigned pilot proficiency flights and maintain a level of skill necessary to mentor the students in the assigned curriculum.
  • Maintain high standards in the completion of flight school documents for correctness and currency including but not limited to, student training records, flight operation records, departure clearances, logbooks, airman applications, finance reports and other 141 records.
  • Responsible for order, cleanliness and security of work area and equipment such as office, aircraft and training aids.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Provide feedback to assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, review and update of the flight and ground school curriculum.
  • Prepare, revise and update course materials as required for assigned ground schools.
  • Serve as Dispatch Supervisor and assist with flight scheduling as assigned.
  • Perform other special duties as assigned.
