About The Position

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Start date for this program will be June 1, 2026. You must be available for all orientation requirements for this program. Through staffing office deployment, support nurses and other medical staff in caring for patients in a safe, compassionate manner. LPN Nurse Externs observe, document and communicate needs, concerns, and patient status changes to health care team promptly in various roles and departments throughout the organization. Provide emotional support, education and guidance to patients during their hospital stay. Under the direction of the registered nurse or healthcare team member assists with nursing practice interventions. Provides quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care. Acts as a role model for excellence in customer service. Promotes positive patient outcomes through inquiry and evidence-based practice. Provide basic patient care including activities of daily living Range of motion Ambulation Positioning and skin care Appropriate bathing and oral hygiene Feeding and meal delivery Toileting and incontinent care Ensures a clean and safe working and patient environment Aids patient care team in collection of patient data and specimens. Reporting irregularities to the primary nurse. May participate in Interdisciplinary rounds (IDR) Patient rounding focusing on the 4Ps. Personal needs, Pain, Positioning, and Personal Items Ensures timely communication with the Central Operations Center and ensures timely interventions regarding identified events/concerns related to telemetry, bed alarms and/or virtual sitting Obtains urine, stool, and sputum specimens and processes specimens Obtains and records heath, weights, vital signs, including pulse oximetry and pain level and I&O Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional Aids patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures: Performs and educates patient regarding purpose of incentive spirometry Transport patients Preps patient for diagnostic tests Flexible hours: Min. 12 hours/month. Max 29 hours/week. Completion of one adult care clinical rotation prior to beginning of externship. Paid shadow time after completing a certain number of hours one-on-one with an LPN in a variety of patient care settings. Professional development sessions provided.
