About The Position

Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Fleet Shop Assistant to join our Fleet team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Fleet Shop Assistant do for us? This position performs cleaning, sanding, and preparing transformers for painting in our Transformer Shop. Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Safe and proper use of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including sanders, drills, saws, grinders, Forklift, basic maintenance of such tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of: Sanding and painting process
  • Knowledge of: Proper handling and disposal of applicable hazardous materials and waste materials such as batteries, air filters, and used oils
  • Knowledge of: Safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Skills in: Communication, teamwork, and safety focus
  • Skills in: Use of computers including utilizing Microsoft products and time-entry software
  • Ability to: Use tools safely and correctly with little or no supervision
  • Ability to: Work as a team member when required and independently when required, making sound and rational decisions to facilitate necessary maintenance procedures
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in custodial, material handling, auto body and paint, or related experience
  • Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • Licenses & Certifications: Forklift certification required within 60 days of hire
  • Licenses & Certifications: Respirator fit tested within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of: Machine shop tools and cleaning procedures
  • Experience in a Fleet or Fabrication shop
  • Experience in auto body and painting techniques
  • Experience in an industrial environment performing auto body or other metal prep and painting work
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card
  • First Aid/CPR card

Responsibilities
