The main responsibilities of this position are to diagnosis and document vehicle and equipment problems, and to coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs activities between the Central Vehicle Maintenance Facility (CVMF) and user departments. The incumbent makes the initial diagnosis of equipment problems, prepares and processes work orders, schedules preventative maintenance and repairs, acts as a liaison between the CVMF and user departments, and assists in the maintenance of the computerized fleet information management system. Fleet Service Writers exercise some independent judgement in solving work problems, and receive general supervision from a manager. The position may direct the work of a clerical staff as assigned. Performs related work as required. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
