Looking for a challenging and rewarding career? Shared Medical Services is seeking a Fleet Service Technician I! You will be responsible for learning and assisting the shop team with all aspects of trailer services for our fleet of mobile medical coaches in addition to other responsibilities Anticipated Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm Additional hours may be required based on workload

Requirements

  • One to two years of driving tractor/trailer experience preferred
  • Must have experience with, or be willing to learn, semi-trailers and/or other heavy equipment maintenance including diesel engines, brakes, suspensions and generators
  • Welding or fabrication experience preferred
  • RV or interior fabrication experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Must be able to understand and comply with applicable DOT rules and regulations
  • Able to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas
  • Must be willing and able to train and assist other team members as necessary
  • Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative

Responsibilities

  • Assists and performs all aspects of trailer service including body, frame, diesel generators, brakes, suspension, electrical trouble shooting, interior finish and environmental support systems
  • Assists and performs required trailer maintenance, repair and refurbishment, including full coach reconditioning
  • Assists with medical equipment installation
  • May relocate mobile medical imaging equipment to various sites in accordance with applicable DOT rules and regulations and SMS standard operating procedures
  • Sets up and tears down equipment, in accordance with SMS and/or manufacturers guidelines
  • Completes necessary administrative tasks (i.e. time reports, billing, and any applicable maintenance, mileage or inspection forms).
  • Follows preventative maintenance guidelines and ensures proper maintenance of all equipment.
  • Works with vendors and members of SMS staff, as appropriate, to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures.
  • Maintains a clean work environment
  • Complies with all safety policies and regulations, including DOT and radiation safety as applicable
  • Performs additional duties as required
