About The Position

The Fleet Security Adviser will play a key role in protecting the company’s autonomous vehicle fleet by investigating, preventing, and mitigating incidents such as vandalism, aggressive behavior, and minor collisions. The role requires a highly experienced law enforcement professional capable of independent decision-making, multi-agency coordination, and strategic security planning. The adviser will work closely with internal security, legal, and safety teams to ensure a safe and compliant operational environment.

Requirements

  • Sworn law enforcement professional with 15+ years of experience (Captain or Lieutenant preferred; Sergeant considered if fully qualified).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety, Transportation, Emergency Management, or specialized certification in traffic safety/traffic investigations.
  • Strong expertise in traffic collision investigation (local, serious injury, fatal incidents).
  • Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) / NIMS operations preferred.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Established national law enforcement network (e.g., FBI Academy graduate or specialized national teams).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to accommodate occasional regional travel.
  • Must be able to operate in a field environment, including varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior assignment to a dedicated traffic or motor unit.
  • Advanced accident reconstruction training and/or expert court testimony experience.
  • Law enforcement career experience in Los Angeles or San Francisco city limits.
  • Experience working with corporate security teams supporting emerging technologies (autonomous vehicles).

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, prevent, and mitigate negative acts against autonomous vehicles, including vandalism, aggressive behavior, and minor collisions.
  • Conduct traffic collision investigations, including serious injury and fatal incidents.
  • Develop and manage vehicle recovery programs.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other public safety agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, legal requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Deliver first responder briefings and operational training as needed.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate investigative reports and evidence documentation.
  • Serve as an advisor for cross-functional teams on safety, security, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Occasionally travel regionally to support fleet launch or operational setup in new markets.
