About The Position

The purpose of this work is to receive, issue, purchase and inventory of a parts room and other related duties.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution or a combination of education and experience beyond the standard of a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have five years of experience in the automotive, truck, or heavy equipment parts field.
• Must have a valid State of Florida driver license.
• Working knowledge of automotive, transit equipment and internal combustion engine parts and their accessories.
• General knowledge of computerized parts systems.
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment such as hand tools, etc.
• Must be able to see and distinguish colors, hear and smell.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Work involves walking more than a mile per day, climbing stairs and ladders, moving, reaching, handling, bending, and stooping for periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Obtains parts from least expensive vendor; determine proper number of parts needed for the different kinds of vehicles in the fleet.
• Installs and maintains a perpetual inventory.
• Ability to take a physical inventory and reconcile balance sheets;
• Enforces safety, housekeeping, and fire prevention rules.
• Ensures stockroom material is properly stored.
• Maintains adequate records of purchase orders, vendor invoices, work orders, shipping and receiving tickets and all related paperwork.
• Ability to track cores and core charges and reduce or eliminate obsolete parts.
• Picks up parts from vendors when necessary.
• Ability to write and communicate verbally.
• Ability to input and retrieve data from a computer.
• Ability to read and obtain information from various parts manuals.
