About The Position

This is a mechanic position in the maintenance and repair of automotive and life safety equipment. Work involves servicing and repairing automotive and life safety related equipment. Considerable independence in task and accomplishment is expected.

Requirements

  • 18 years old or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (able to obtain CO driver’s license in 30 days of hire)
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) within 6 months of hire
  • Basic electrical system knowledge of (A/C & D/C)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other computer software.
  • Must have own tools applicable to the position or be willing to purchase as necessary
  • We do not permit the use of medicinal or recreational marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the fire protection industry
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) /Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certified
  • Two years’ experience as an automotive diesel mechanic working on class- 6 vehicles or larger
  • Two years’ experience working on gasoline powered equipment produced since 2002.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of fleet vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or unsafe conditions and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Repair and replace vehicle systems and components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, suspensions, and HVAC systems.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inspection reports in accordance with company or regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and emission standards.
  • Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely, including lifts, diagnostic machines, and hand/power tools.
  • Work collaboratively with other mechanics, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate repair schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Keep the shop area clean, organized, and in compliance with safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned
