Position Summary The Fleet Manager role owns the full lifecycle of a diverse fleet - 350+ vehicles and 50+ pieces of heavy construction equipment (“yellow iron”) - ensuring compliance, safety, cost efficiency, and uptime across multiple states. This role will centralize fleet operations, lead a team of mechanics, and build scalable systems that support continued expansion. If you thrive at the intersection of operations, compliance, and leadership, this is your lane. Location: Rancho Dominguez, CA, with occasional travel to Cypress, CA headquarters and project sites.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of fleet management or DOT compliance experience in a multi-site, multi-state environment.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, CSA, HOS, ELD, CARB, and drug & alcohol regulations.
  • Experience managing mixed fleets, including heavy construction equipment (“yellow iron”).
  • Proficiency with fleet systems and telematics (GeoTab preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, analyze data, and drive operational improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Background in construction, mechanical trades, or field service operations.
  • ASE certification or equivalent technical expertise.
  • Experience with IRP, IFTA, OEM fleet programs, and large-scale vendor negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lifecycle management, maintenance, and utilization of a large mixed fleet (light, medium, and heavy equipment).
  • Lead vehicle and equipment acquisition, spec’ing, upfitting, replacement planning, and disposal.
  • Drive preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
  • Leverage telematics and fleet systems (GeoTab, WEX, eFleet) to improve performance and visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations (FMCSA, DOT, CSA, OSHA, CARB, HOS, ELD).
  • Oversee inspections, emissions reporting, registration, titling, and permitting (including OS/OW).
  • Maintain driver qualification files and compliance programs (CDL, MVRs, medical cards, Clearinghouse, drug & alcohol).
  • Monitor safety metrics and CSA scores; implement corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Safety and Risk teams on accident response, claims, and reporting.
  • Own and manage fleet operating and capital budgets.
  • Track and optimize costs across fuel, maintenance, insurance, and repairs.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor relationships (OEMs, dealers, repair shops, specialty vendors).
  • Oversee fuel card programs, including auditing, reporting, and fraud mitigation.
  • Lead, develop, and manage shop and equipment mechanics.
  • Coordinate with operations, dispatch, and field teams to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Support expansion into new states by establishing fleet infrastructure and compliance processes.
