The Fleet Manager is responsible for all aspects of vehicle maintenance, safety and compliance in accordance with TransWest, State Agencies and the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Ensuring consistent coverage of service needs across all our client locations and transportation service networks. Works with leadership to understand current and upcoming vehicle needs. Plans & executes on every aspect of the vehicle lifecycle. This position is responsible for the administration of our fleet software tools (telematics – track & trace) to ensure continuity of our systems as well as reliable fleet data reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience working with a variety of vehicles
  • 2+ years of supervisor of manager experience in a maintenance shop or as a Fleet Manager
  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
  • CDL Class A, B or C License
  • Passenger Endorsement or able to obtain within 90 days of start date
  • Current/Active DOT Medical Card
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT drug test
  • Enjoy people and excel at customer service
  • Able to communicate proficiently in English
  • Able to work independently, yet able to take direction
  • Able to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitate, schedule and manage TransWest Fleet Maintenance and Safety Programs by partnering with Operations teams.
  • Manage vendor relationships for maintenance and repairs of fleet; identify appropriate vendor(s) to provide a variety of fleet maintenance functions for all vehicles, e.g., dealerships, maintenance shops, body or other specialty shops, fuel vendors, and parts/supplies vendors.
  • Negotiate best pricing with vendors for all service needs and requirements and work closely with the Operation Support Services to keep costs at a minimum for required work.
  • Research, recommend and purchase new and replacement equipment and/or technology to effectively support fleet operations: stay abreast of new or replacement equipment trends for improving fleet operations; prepare cost benefit analyses for management review.
  • Address immediate fleet concerns and maintain fleet maintenance records: review driver defect reports on a regular basis, and trouble-shoot/resolve issues to reduce the number of road calls and ensure the appropriate level of safe operations.
  • Track daily vehicle reports, maintenance and repair records, registrations and insurance records to ensure all maintenance files are accurate and current; and prepare the annual fleet maintenance report for management review.
  • Develop fleet safety programs, including the investigation of accidents involving fleet equipment and estimation of repair costs.
  • Responsible for each stage of each fleet vehicle’s lifecycle.
  • Provide required updates to the VP of Operations on maintenance reports, vehicle tracking, maintenance costs and other reporting as needed
