About The Position

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle, maintenance, and operational readiness of all rolling and moveable assets, including vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and towable support assets. This role ensures the fleet is maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards while supporting both routine operations and rapid deployment needs for project-based and emergency response work. The Fleet Manager develops preventative maintenance programs, manages repairs, tracks utilization, and coordinates asset movement across job sites.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment, trailers, vehicles, and towable support assets.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance planning and asset lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and OSHA safety requirements.
  • CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead drivers/operators and coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software, asset tracking, and ERP systems.
  • Travel up to 30% required.

  • Experience with Samsara Fleet Management software strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and schedule the mobilization and demobilization of fleet assets for project-based work and emergency response.
  • Coordinate drivers, operators, and transport suppliers to ensure safe, efficient movement of rolling assets.
  • Maintain compliance reporting for all CDL vehicles, including TXDOT Number, USDOT Number, IRP, MC Number, and IFTA requirements.
  • Optimize asset utilization across projects to reduce downtime and unnecessary rental costs.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all rolling/moveable assets, including but not limited to vehicles, trailers, and towable equipment.
  • Oversee inspections, routine servicing, and major repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and manage relationships with service vendors and mechanics.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs, work orders, and repair histories for compliance and lifecycle planning.
  • Implement a system to forecast replacement timelines and budget for asset lifecycle management.
  • Oversee all GPS systems for all fleet vehicles.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet DOT, OSHA, and manufacturer safety standards.
  • Lead accident investigations, insurance claims, and corrective action plans when incidents occur.
  • Develop fleet budgets covering fuel, maintenance, repairs, insurance, and replacement.
  • Track operating costs per vehicle/asset to evaluate efficiency and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Use asset management software or ERP to log utilization, maintenance, and cost data.
  • Prepare regular fleet status and readiness reports for leadership.
