Palmetto Propane, Fuels, and Ice is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance, compliance, and operational readiness of its vehicle fleet. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a fleet compliance program aligned with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company standards. It combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership to ensure all commercial vehicles, service trucks, trailers, and equipment remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial vehicles, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Experience with LP Autogas Systems (preferred)
  • 3+ years of leadership or shop supervisory experience
  • Strong diagnostic skills in diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, and emission systems
  • Experience with electronic logging systems and fleet maintenance software (e.g., Samsara, Fleetio, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of DOT inspections, PM programs, and compliance requirements.
  • ASE, OEM, or diesel certifications strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work under vehicles for extended periods
  • Availability to work full-time hours.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of fleet maintenance, including preventative maintenance, inspection compliance, and vehicle repairs
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life
  • Coordinate with operations to prioritize repairs and maintain service schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including DOT, OSHA, SCDA, and USDA
  • Oversee inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and purchasing for maintenance needs
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and roadside service when necessary
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
