The Fleet Manager plays a vital role in supporting the company’s fleet operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Purchasing, this position provides comprehensive leadership to all LOBs, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant management of company vehicles and drivers. Act as the main point of contact and relationship owner of the Fleet Management Company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fleet coordination, logistics, or a related field (construction or service industry experience preferred).
  • Strong vendor management competencies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and fleet management or telematics software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across LOBs.
  • Detail-oriented and process-driven, with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance practices, and fleet safety standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily fleet operations across all Lines of Business (LOBs), ensuring vehicles and drivers are supported efficiently and consistently.
  • Partner with HR and Safety to establish and maintain driver eligibility standards, including oversight of MVR monitoring for employees assigned company vehicles.
  • Oversee and analyze telematics data to monitor vehicle utilization, performance, safety, and compliance, using insights to drive operational and safety improvements.
  • Manage the end-to-end vehicle procurement process, including approval workflows, ordering, upfitting, delivery, and assignment in alignment with LOB leaders and Finance.
  • Ensure all fleet assets are properly registered, inspected, maintained, and documented in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and monitor fuel card programs, reviewing usage and reporting to identify cost efficiencies, trends, and potential discrepancies.
  • Lead fleet-related incident management in partnership with Safety, including accident reporting, investigations, claims coordination, and corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary owner and relationship manager for the Fleet Management Company (FMC), ensuring service levels, responsiveness, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Oversee and analyze telematics data provided through the FMC and internal systems to monitor vehicle utilization, performance, safety, and compliance, using insights to drive operational improvements.
  • Manage the end-to-end vehicle lifecycle through the FMC, including procurement, ordering, upfitting, delivery, assignment, replacement planning, and decommissioning in alignment with business needs and approvals.
  • Ensure all fleet assets are properly registered, titled, inspected, and maintained through FMC processes and vendor partners in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and monitor fuel card programs managed through the FMC, reviewing usage, exception reporting, and spend trends to identify cost efficiencies and discrepancies.
  • Lead fleet-related incident and accident management in partnership with Safety and the FMC, including reporting, claims coordination, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Negotiate, review, and manage FMC contracts, service agreements, and pricing structures to optimize cost, performance, and scalability.
  • Establish and monitor FMC performance metrics and SLAs, holding vendors accountable for service quality, turnaround times, and cost controls.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce fleet policies, procedures, and best practices in collaboration with the FMC to drive consistency across the organization.
