About The Position

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Fleet Manager to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL. The Industrial Maintenance organization provides corrective and preventative maintenance across a broad range of installed assets and hand tools within the Mobile FAL. The assets include mechanical and electrical CNC machinery, conventional production machinery, Jigs and Tools & Single Aisle Final Assembly Lines (both A320 and A220) and fleet management. Asset age ranges from brand new equipment, up to 10 years old. The Industrial Maintenance strategy requires enhanced technical support to develop the internal competence to deliver comprehensive asset care. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring service levels and value for money are realized for the entire fleet of the assets within the Mobile Manufacturing Site. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing third party service providers, vehicles, drivers and other assets for fleet transportation services. Manage the implementation of fleet management software to streamline vehicle fleet operations and maintenance. Oversee the purchase or lease of all vehicles and see to it that the program is right-sized to the needs of the campus. Requirements

  • Coordinating work flow initiatives for service providers in the areas of transportation scheduling, driver training, safety, scheduling and fleet management software.
  • Managing and reporting subcontractor activities in a production environment.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills with proven ability to develop strategic solutions.
  • Customer service and invoice processing is critical.
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 + years subcontractor management experience required.
  • US Person under ITAR definition Or
  • Eligible to work in the USA.
  • Able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a campus production environment is a plus.
  • College degree plus 3+ year's subcontractor management experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational day to day transportation operations for the Mobile Manufacturing Campus, including subcontractor coordination.
  • Ensuring adherence of regulations of all local and federal laws with respect to the operation of the program.
  • Maintain an inventory log of all fleet vehicles including, ground support equipment (GSE),mobile air conditioning carts, mobile aircraft ground power units (GPUs) , golf carts and other means of transportation.
  • Keep accurate records for each vehicle in the fleet.
  • Subcontractor coordination: Coordinate subcontractor activities to prevent impact to Mfg. 25% Operations and minimize impact to end users.
  • Monitor driver qualifications and training logs.
  • Analyze and improve service delivery: Recommend and manage initiatives to increase and improve service delivery considering both cost and quality - KPI Management.
  • Develop and track corrective action plans regarding service delivery.
  • Establish efficient routes and transportation schedules.
  • Provide reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet performance metrics.
  • Oversee the daily maintenance and vehicle inspections of fleet vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Develop a maintenance program for Electric Vehicle charging Stations.
  • Maintain vehicle insurance certificates, license and registration.
  • Review, approve and process invoicing for related activities.
  • Arrange repairs and routine maintenance of transportation vehicles.
  • Other duties as directed by the Contract Manager.
  • Regularly review processes and procedures to ensure that they are being adhered to and identify and deliver improvements on a continual basis.
  • Support Procurement in the negotiation of contracts to provide required service levels and value for money.
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with key strategic suppliers.
  • Working with the Maintenance team, drive a high performance culture through the day to day management of the Fleet management contracts.
  • Conduct ‘Deep Dives’ where performance gaps, or potential performance gaps present themselves and implement changes and controls as the situations dictate.
  • Support the Maintenance department in the development of the Maintenance strategy including management of fleet contractors. Align the Commercial Maintenance Strategy with Manufacturing and Procurement strategies.
  • Project manage simple, low cost refurbishment projects example CapEx business cases.
  • Provide a single point of contact for the entire fleet assets and the Internal Customers In terms of delivery and escalation.
