About The Position

Reporting to the VP Logistics, the Fleet Manager is responsible to oversee the Company’s fleet operations across Canada, related (but not limited) to: Lease Management, Procurement, Fleet support, National Safety Code Management, Vehicle Licensing and other duties and projects as assigned related to fleet operation activities.

Requirements

  • 3- 5 years of experience in a fleet supervisor or manager role
  • Ability to source equipment, evaluate bids, and manage contracts
  • Experience developing AFEs, forecasting fleet needs, and managing costs.
  • Data driven decision making and Cost‑optimization mindset
  • In-depth knowledge of National Safety Code requirements
  • Knowledge of Canadian Heavy Vehicles regulations and By-Laws

Responsibilities

  • Lease Management and Procurement
  • Responsible for internal fleet across Canada
  • Responsible for the Purchasing, Leasing and rentals for all equipment on the road for Sofina Canada
  • Manage National pricing vendor agreements related to temporary rentals for trailers and trucks. Coordinate short-term rentals
  • In collaboration with Finance, maintain asset listing on Sofina owned, leased, and rental equipment
  • Plan, organize and direct the procurement of vehicles Tractors, Straight Trucks, Shunt Trucks, various trailer types, and industry custom equipment
  • Develop fleet planning and future expenditure requirements. Develop AFE’s and gain approvals for all new capital requirements
  • National Safety Code Management
  • Ensure that fleet operations are in compliance with the National Safety Code
  • Responsible for participating in any Government Provincial Audits
  • Vehicle Licensing and Fleet support
  • Negotiate national service agreements for maintenance of the fleet to ensure cost efficiencies. Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program
  • Work with all Sofina locations that require fuel to identify cost savings opportunities based on fuel consumption
  • Manage general fleet management activities related to Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP), asset management, insurance, carrier profile and CVOR renewals, plate renewals and new plates
  • Conduct annual safety audit of equipment, to ensure that equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications, applicable legislation and Company standards
  • Additional: LCV Permits, Interprovincial Permits

Benefits

  • This position is eligible for a bonus up to 8% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.
