Position Summary: As a Part-Time Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, you will ensure the City’s vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for service. You’ll handle a mix of hands-on light mechanical work, administrative tracking, and vendor coordination. While the City contracts out major mechanical work, you serve as the primary liaison between City departments and service providers to ensure the fleet stays on the road.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and repair tools.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with city staff and vendors.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License (Class R) and a good driving history required.
  • 3-5 years of fleet maintenance experience or substantially equivalent positions with other public agencies or private contractors.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
  • Must be able to obtain CJIS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Service Scheduling: Act as the main point of contact for scheduling routine inspections and preventative maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid services) with external vendors.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with shops and contractors for major repairs, ensuring work is completed timely and to City standards.
  • Initial Diagnostics: Respond to vehicle complaints and perform basic troubleshooting to determine if a vehicle needs to be sent out for professional repair.
  • Minor Adjustments: Perform simple, "quick-fix" tasks in-house (e.g., checking levels or minor bulbs) to maintain immediate fleet availability.
  • Quality Control & Tracking: Review completed vendor work orders to ensure all requested maintenance was performed correctly and document all services and parts in the asset management system to maintain accurate fleet records.
  • Maintain accurate records for licensing, registration, and insurance.
