About The Position

The Fleet Assignment Specialist is responsible for directing multiple terminal’s on-site Driver Support Representatives and providing direction and decision-making in their day-to-day operations. This includes coordinating and scheduling new and current drivers for tractor assignments, analyzing and determining optimal driver relocation locations considering cost, travel time, and driver domicile, and managing open tractors across all Werner full-service terminals and shop locations nationwide. The role also involves developing action plans for equipment that has been idle for too long, prioritizing and scheduling tractors for assignment, and locating specialized equipment for Specialized Service divisions upon request. Furthermore, the specialist plans and directs current policy and guidelines to off-campus terminals, manages driver layover for truck assignments, including entering layover, recovery, and extra pay details, works in an email proxy to provide direction and problem resolution in Omaha and off-site locations, and creates daily reports for internal executives on equipment tracking, tractor recovery, and layover pay.

Responsibilities

  • Directing multiple terminal’s on-site Driver Support Representatives and giving direction and decision making in their day to day operations.
  • Coordinating and scheduling new and current drivers for a tractor assignment.
  • Analyze and determine the best location to relocate drivers from one location to another, taking into consideration cost, travel time, and driver domicile.
  • Managing of open tractors at all locations (Werner full service terminals, Shop locations across the country).
  • Developing Plans of Action on equipment sitting open too long.
  • Prioritizing and scheduling of tractors needed for a tractor assignment.
  • Upon request locating specialized equipment for our Specialized Service divisions.
  • Planning and directing current policy and guidelines to our off campus terminals.
  • Manage driver layover for truck assignments, enter a driver’s layover, recovery and any extra pay earned while going through the tractor assignment process.
  • Work in an email proxy and provide direction and problem resolution in Omaha and off site locations.
  • Create daily reports for internal executives regarding equipment tracking, tractor recovery, and lay over pay details.
