About The Position

The Fixed Income Investment Analyst is primarily responsible for working with and leveraging the time of the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers. The successful candidate will work with the portfolio managers to analyze the domestic and global rates portfolios. The Analyst will perform in-depth country and regional research in order to identify relative value and make recommendations for total return opportunities. The Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our existing analytics system (BlackRock Aladdin). They will also be expected to provide analytical support to the investment process and perform ad-hoc investment analysis related to the investment goals and strategies.

Requirements

  • Accredited college degree in business, finance, quantitative finance, economics or related scientific discipline
  • 0-3 years of internship or professional experience in investments, capital markets, research, or financial analysis
  • Fundamental understanding of investment concepts, valuation, and modeling
  • Fundamental understanding of Fixed income concepts, basic macroeconomic principles, foreign exchange fundamentals
  • Foundational financial modeling in data analysis skills (excel required)
  • Ability to interpret economic data and summarizes findings clearly in written and verbal form
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills. The analyst will assist in progressing the technical aptitude of the entire fixed income
  • Highly self-motivated and detail
  • Ability to work accurately and maintain composure under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship (e.g., not requiring H-1B, F-1 OPT, or similar)

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with academic coursework and/or firm grasp of sovereign economic fundamentals, fundamental knowledge investment grade sovereign bond and foreign exchange markets and instruments is highly preferred
  • Internship or prior work experience in Fixed Income, Macro research, Investment banking
  • Familiarity with financial market platforms (Aladdin or Bloomberg preferred)
  • Experience with programming in Python, VBA or MATLAB is highly desirable.
  • None required but progress toward CFA Level I designation

Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental analysis of global rate markets and FX
  • Provide daily portfolio risk and performance review and attribution
  • Monitor the new issue market and assist with the RV analysis of bonds under review for purchase
  • Build, maintain, and update analytical tools and produce periodic reports
  • Support the portfolio hedging program by monitoring exposures and preparing materials for review.
  • Maintain current knowledge of fundamental economic developments and other factors affecting interest rates within the global investment universe in order assist in buy and/or sell decisions where multiple solutions exist
  • Analyze securities markets by performing credit and relative value analysis and provides input on the specific strategies/securities considered for investment
  • Maintain a sovereign risk scorecard and various existing relative value models and optimization tools
  • Develop new models and trade ideas to add value to the portfolio
  • Monitor FX exposure of the Global portfolio and assist with preparation and documentation of FX hedging transactions
  • Produce standard and ad hoc reports as required
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with research, data management, and other analytical tasks as needed.
