About The Position

Fitters must read blueprints, cut/thread/weld pipes. The role requires strong safety awareness, mechanical skill, and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Requirements

Blueprint reading
Knowledge of tape measure and standard measurements
Ability to perform degree finding
Ability to divide circumference of welds
Knowledge of overhead cranes and hand signals
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices
Must be able to adhere to standards and perform a quality job in a safe manner within an acceptable time.
Physical requirements include Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching, standing for long periods of time, lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to work at heights up to 25 feet.
2-5 years relevant work experience

Responsibilities

Inspect the workplace, clear obstructions, and prepare materials and equipment.
Study blueprints and plan pipe systems and related equipment installations.
Use a variety of tools to modify pipes to specifications.
Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
Assemble and weld pipe components and systems.
Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets, clamps, and welding equipment.
Repair and maintain pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
Comply with relevant codes and regulatory standards.
