SUMMARY Safely erects and fits together appropriate equipment and materials for the building of asphalt plant and related components. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following, other duties may be assigned. Assists in the building of asphalt plant equipment and related components by safely and efficiently fitting and welding metal parts in a quality-conscious manner. Must be able to demonstrate ability to properly and weld using the GMAW and FCAW processes. Inspects metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and produces welds with minimal post grinding. Ensures welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed. Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding, including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection. Always follow proper safety rules and procedures. Overtime including weekends may be required as necessary.

Requirements

Ability and experience to weld properly and safely using GMAW and FCAW.
Ability to read and understand weld symbols on drawings required.
Ability to safely use cranes and forklifts required.
Must be able to pass a welding skills test.
Fit-up knowledge and ability required.
High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
