About The Position

Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a Weekend Shift Lead Welder for our plant located in Ft. Worth, TX. As a Lead Welder at Meyer Utility Structures, you'll be responsible for ensuring that your team's daily work assignments are completed in accuracy on time and in a safe manner. You will be expected to lead by example, be proactive in identifying and solving problems, and act with the utmost levels of integrity and safety. Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. Must be able to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday 4:00am - 4:30pm.

Requirements

  • Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility is high preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts preferably related to transmission poles.
  • Scheduling experience for the jobs to be produced per bay daily.
  • Dispatching experience to keep track of the poles coming in and out of the shop.
  • Must have proficient computer skills, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • A high degree of dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics as demonstrated through previous professional work experience.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus. Comfortable using translation engines if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the bay supervisor with the communication of daily expectations for Quality, Production, Safety and On Time Deliveries.
  • Ensure employees follow all safety procedures and protocols, serve on safety committees and complete regular safety audits.
  • Assist the bay supervisor with managing and forecasting daily production operations of heavy industrial products for assigned work group.
  • Assist the bay supervisors with setting and managing production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources, and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.
  • Overcome obstacles as they appear in achieving established safety, production, efficiency, and quality metrics.
  • Ensure all production paperwork is properly completed on time and accurately on each work product in the production bay of responsibility.
  • Ensure work products are completed and inspected properly prior to quality inspectors being scheduled for inspections.
  • Coach employees on work quality and quantity such as fit up and welding processes, ensuring goals are met and solving issues as they arise and are identified.
