About The Position

The Fitness Program Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing programs and operations for all fitness facilities within On Top of the World Communities. This position is accountable for delivering trending and older-adult programs that are safe and effective for the residents, clients, and guests of OTOW.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • 5+ years of professional senior-related fitness program experience required
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Current Personal Training certification required
  • Current CPR/AED and first aid certifications required
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English with strong business written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to express thoughts clearly and simply
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required
  • Ability to demonstrate equipment use for exercise training
  • Efficient, well-organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
  • Effective leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Current specialty certifications in older adult fitness preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • A valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving history is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a variety of exercise programs for OTOW residents and guests.
  • Has a keen understanding of exercise science and the needs of older adults.
  • Oversees the operations of all OTOW fitness centers, including securing and maintaining equipment, which requires working closely with the Facility Maintenance department and the contracted preventative maintenance company.
  • Develops and plans a diverse calendar of member programs and activities to include fitness and wellness programs, sports, and lifestyle management programs.
  • Develops member participation and recruitment plans and outlines in detail all promotions, fitness programs, and any expenditures.
  • Provides resident orientations and balance assessments. Orientations include an introduction to the fitness center(s), facilities, services, programs, and policies.
  • Creates and implements an annual marketing plan to promote all activities, encourage participation, and maximize facility utilization.
  • Ensures all guest, class, and Personal Training fees are correctly charged.
  • Develops monthly and yearly management reports outlining key program statistics and a summary of how these impact operational needs.
  • May be required to provide personal training and group class instruction when necessary.
  • Ensures staff are knowledgeable on the use and benefits of fitness equipment, services, products, programs, and activities through regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility through efficient scheduling of the facility and makes changes to stay within budgetary guidelines as needed.
  • Directly supervises assigned employees, to include: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training staff, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, counseling, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Performs all duties in adherence to Company standards.
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
  • Works to make sure other employees follow safe exercise practices.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors, and co-workers.
