About The Position

General Description: The Fisheries Data Analyst is responsible for applying specialized fisheries knowledge to collect, manage, process, and disseminate data housed in ACCSP systems. ACCSP utilizes Oracle products for data storage and dissemination. See ACCSP's website (www.accsp.org [http://www.accsp.org]) for comprehensive information about the program.  This position may be filled before the closing date.   Specific Duties: 1. Works with the Program Partners and ACCSP staff to provide data support for data-intensive activities (such as stock assessments).  2. Assists staff in the design, building, and maintenance of fisheries data structures. 3. Provides quality control and monitoring for ACCSP partner data feeds and deployed ACCSP data collection systems. 4. Works with ACCSP technical committees in guiding the evolution of ACCSP data collection standards. 5. Provides support for data requests that cannot be fulfilled through online tools. 6. Follows established quality control/quality assurance protocols for all information systems during the entire system life cycle.  7. Provides technical support for end users.    8. Performs related duties as required as the ACCSP evolves. 9. Conduct these activities according to Commission policies and procedures. Supervision: Supervision Received.  The Fisheries Data Analyst reports to the ACCSP Director through the Data Team Leader. Work Environment: The Fisheries Data Analyst will work in the offices of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, in Arlington, Virginia.  Some travel, primarily along the Atlantic coast, may be required to attend various meetings with fisheries constituents and ACCSP Partners.     Overtime: This position is not qualified for overtime under the Commission’s policies.  Compensatory time and flexible working hours (with supervisory approval) are available under the Commission’s policies.  However, the Fisheries Data Analyst is a salaried employee and is expected to put in the effort required to make the ACCSP successful.
