This is a temporary/season position that begins February 23, 2026 and extends through July 31, 2026. The candidate Creel/Fisheries Clerk position requires assisting in angler interviews along the Delaware River in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. The candidate requisite clerk position requires travel to fishing access points along the Delaware River with the primary task of interviewing fisherman to obtain data on their effort, catch and harvest to help the states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York with their recommendations for the management of the American Shad and Striped Bass fisheries. Clerks may be required to identify, count and measure harvested fish in the field with fisherman. Creel Clerks will independently interview fishermen but work closely with other Creel Clerks in the area and the Field Coordinator. Work will be conducted on weekdays and weekend days. Ability to work weekends and holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth and July 4th) is required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office product experience
  • General background-related experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • familiarity with various data collection techniques including tablet or mobile phone-based data collection
  • Candidate preferred to have a minimum of associate degree in applied science in biology or related discipline or comparable combination of education and experience
  • one year of experience in data collection, public engagement or related experience
  • Coursework or experience in ichthyology or experience fishing preferred
  • Experience with GIS or mapping software is a plus
  • Preference given to local candidates (northeast Pennsylvania, northwest New Jersey or Orange, Sullivan, Delaware or Broome counties, New York).

Responsibilities

  • Collect consistent field data from fisherman following a defined standard operating procedure
  • Coordinate with project management and field coordination leads on staffing and schedule
  • Operate vehicles and have a valid driver’s license
