Under the direction of the Manager Treasury Services, the Fiscal Support Specialist is responsible for serving students, staff, parents and community members through the Treasury Services office, working on a broad array of student service issues, including student accounts, financial aid, veterans’ benefits, orientation, admissions and registration. The Fiscal Support Specialist collaborates with various service areas to facilitate consistent delivery of services and information across campus. The Fiscal Support Specialist refers students to the appropriate college resource while providing exceptional customer service to a diverse population.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • Two years of experience in student financial accounts, banking or related areas
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills; ability to work collaboratively in a high‑demand environment while maintaining confidentiality
  • Knowledge of college, local, state, and federal regulations related to billing, payment, refunding, confidentiality, and student services
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work independently with minimal supervision, and demonstrate initiative and flexibility
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to explain complex terms, processes, and technology in plain language to diverse populations
  • Ability to balance cashiering sessions, maintain accurate records, and apply mathematical and analytical principles
  • Ability to de‑escalate difficult situations, resolve complaints, and research issues using available resources, escalating as appropriate
  • Proficiency with student information systems and standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and data entry

Responsibilities

  • Provides student services information to students, staff, parents, and community members through in‑person, phone, and email interactions
  • Assesses student financial needs, engages in financial planning discussions, and assists with setting up payment plans
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for receipting, recording, refunding, and balancing tuition payments and college revenues, including daily cashier balancing and deposit preparation
  • Collaborate with college personnel to research, resolve, or redirect student inquiries and disputes, using tact and professionalism to handle difficult situations
  • Manages assigned college‑wide fiscal processes, including emergency loan tracking, returned check processing, and account balance write‑offs
  • Assists with past‑due accounts and State Set‑Off processing, maintaining accurate documentation to support collections and compliance
  • Performs complex cashiering and refund functions in accordance with college policies and regulatory requirements; maintains procedures, completes required training, and performs other related duties as assigned
