Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of governmental accounting principles preferred
  • Experience with deductions and reporting forms for withholding tax, retirement, social security, insurance, and other salary deductions as required or authorized
  • Experience in analyzing financial data, and knowledge of working solutions to prepare proper backup documentation for all submitted reports
  • Working knowledge of computer word-processing and Microsoft Office applications, and Google.
  • Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to complete computational tasks.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to coordinate with others to schedule work activities to meet deadlines.
  • Capability to function under pressure and within many areas of responsibility at one time.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data, and knowledge of working solutions to misdirected funds.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, preferred
  • Familiar with automated Payroll principles, preferred
  • Familiar with accounting software or Infinite Visions Accounting System, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting services essential to the preparation of the district revenue budget, expenditure budgets, and all federal, state, and private project/Grant budgets
  • Validate, prepare, and record all deposits of district funds, as appropriate.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all District bank accounts.
  • Assist in the cash reconciliation to the County Treasurer's Office.
  • Maintain the District's online Point-of-Sale system.
  • Main point of contact for the District's Purchasing Card System.
  • Work with the Benefits Team and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payments to all benefits providers.
  • Prepare all District Accounts Receivable invoices.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report (AFR) documentation and submission.
  • Cooperate with the auditors and provide information as requested for the appropriate department function.
