About The Position

Serves as a fiscal analyst for the Division of Curriculum and Instruction. Performs ad hoc analysis, financial forecasting, and provides analytical support to the offices within the division. Analyzes financial reports, financial systems, and expense tracking mechanisms to provide accurate fiscal guidance. Designs, implements, and maintains expense tracking mechanisms for the division. Assists in the creation and implementation of fiscal training for personnel within the division. Provides fiscal support to offices managing general funds and grant funds. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in financial data analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Thorough knowledge automated financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of local county budget management.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial data reporting.
  • Skill in operating, maintaining, and administering automated financial systems.
  • Skill in analyzing system user needs and requests.
  • Skill in use of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Skill in communicating effectively.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to train appropriate fiscal staff and others in the use of automated systems.
  • Ability to perform ad hoc financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct support to the Fiscal Officer who serves as the principal advisor to the Chief Academic Officer within the Division of Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Assists in the design, creation and maintenance of the budget expense tracking mechanisms managed by the offices within the division.
  • Assists offices in the reconciliation of these mechanisms to the financial system.
  • Assists divisional offices in the annual budget process.
  • In consultation with the Fiscal Officer, assists office heads in entering budget requests into the budgeting system.
  • Provides fiscal guidance to offices regarding spending methods and the allocation of expenses to the correct account strings.
  • Provides guidance on other fiscal transactions that occur within the system.
  • Assists in the analysis of expense reporting, data collection and document preparation for journal vouchers being submitted to the BCPS Accounting Office and BCPS Grant Accounting Office for processing.
  • Develops training materials and assists in fiscal training of personnel within the division.
  • Assists in the preparation of fiscal grant documentation forms and budget narratives for the grants managed within the division.
  • Aids internal and external auditors with the acquisition of requested financial data.
  • Performs analytical functions on large data sets requiring the use of complex formulas to provide accurate responses regarding the data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
