About The Position

First-Year Adviser- Lyon College is seeking a First-Year Adviser to provide positive and enthusiastic guidance and support to incoming first-year college students in a way that aligns with the College's mission and objectives. First-Year Advisers also encourage comprehensive growth through advising, mentoring, coaching, curricular support, and co-curricular involvement. Reporting directly to the Director of First-Year Advising, the First-Year Advisor implements retention-oriented outreach and programming in addition to their active engagement in various on-campus recruiting and orientation events. All First-year advisors uphold strong and cooperative professional relationships with faculty, staff, academic departments, athletics, and other departments on campus that focus on students' success. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in academic advising, counseling, or student services within a higher education setting. A candidate with strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills who can work effectively with diverse student populations and is proficient in student advising software, academic tracking systems, and data management tools, and demonstrates a clear commitment to student success and retention while fostering an inclusive learning environment. Requirements
