About The Position

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations. Purpose The purpose of this position is to provide coordination and technical advisory support for Movement-wide communication and advocacy initiatives across the region, ensuring coherent messaging, strengthened collaboration among Movement components and proactive management of reputational risks. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Lebanon.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political science, International Relations or journalism
  • 8 years of professional experience in Humanitarian communication, advocacy or diplomacy, including 4 years working within the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement.
  • Arabic: Native.

Responsibilities

  • Movement communication coordination: Facilitate regular engagement (through calls, emails, meetings, etc. ) with Movement partners, including IFRC regional and NS colleagues on communication priorities for the region
  • Serve as a focal point for communication-related requests from within the Movement linked to priority crisis contexts in the region
  • Lead, when necessary, and support delegations in consistent messaging and joint positioning where relevant
  • Strategy and planning support: Contribute to the development and implementation of regional Movement communication strategies, where possible
  • Advise regional and country-level teams on integrating Movement communication objectives into operational planning
  • Communication products and tools: Support identifying content needs, producing and disseminating communication materials highlighting the Movement response, including: key messages, factsheets, briefing notes, campaign assets
  • Media and reputation monitoring: Ensure regular monitoring of regional media and social media (Arabic and EN) with the support of the regional Public Relations Officer and other teams concerned for timely identification and management of any potential reputational risks
  • Provide advice and support for proactive and reactive Movement communication responses
  • Capacity-building and partner support: Provide technical guidance and support to communication colleagues across delegations and Movement partners
  • Contribute to trainings, workshops, and joint communication initiatives

Benefits

  • Salary Package: 4’270 – 5’320 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
  • Transportation Allowance: 13 USD per day.
  • 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Salary Review/Increase: annually
  • Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Health Insurance: Full insurance coverage (no co-NSSF) - 90% of premium fees under the class B covered by the ICRC; option for class upgrade is available with extra charges. Coverings include: In-Patient: including pre-existing cases / Out-Patients: Doctor Visits, Medicines, Laboratory tests, Therapeutical services (Physiotherapy, Psychotherapy sessions)
  • International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
