About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking a First Line Production Engineering Manager (Level K) to support the Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) production system in St. Charles, Missouri. In this pivotal role as Production Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of industrial engineers, manufacturing engineers, and liaison Material Review Board (MRB) engineers to define, stabilize, and continuously improve the production system. Your responsibilities will include collaborating cross-functionally to ensure daily operational execution and driving continuous process improvements within the production system. You will work alongside a high-performing team committed to the successful build of this critical capability. This role emphasizes technical and leadership skills to champion a culture of continuous improvement and empower the team to deliver exceptional results in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • Experience or knowledge with production processes within manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly with military or defense programs
  • 3+ years of experience in production operations, leadership, or support
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the fields within Production Engineering
  • Knowledge of Boeing's organizational processes, program plans, and policies
  • Demonstrated ability in budget management and business process improvement
  • Familiarity with critical path methodology, project leadership principles, and cost account management
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) certification
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights
  • Experience with structural repair principles, systems thinking, and root cause analysis
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in Production Engineering
  • Develop, motivate, and empower employees to achieve their potential
  • Oversee daily production support and set operational goals to meet delivery commitments
  • Manage accounts to ensure resources are balanced with cost and schedule targets
  • Identify and eliminate engineering and tooling constraints affecting production
  • Prioritize constraint removal and execution of process improvement initiatives to enable a lean production system
  • Elevate help needed to ensure adequate resources are applied to address production roadblocks
  • Maintain relationships through collaboration with customers, stakeholders, and team members
  • Work together with cross-functional leadership team to enhance operational efficiency and performance
  • Define areas for opportunity in the production system to enable rate and quality targets to achieve delivery commitments
