About The Position

The First Line of Defense Risk Analytics Manager will work within the Bank’s first line of defense risk management function and will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing plans to address economic and financial risk issues related to the production and distribution of the Bank’s goods and services. This includes assessing how delivery of those goods and services impacts liquidity, market risk, capital risk, and investment positions given changes to regulatory, monetary, or fiscal policies. The Risk Analytics Manager will collaborate with first line testers and provide training to ensure consistent and effective testing of control design and effectiveness, reporting, and remediation tracking. This role requires strong knowledge of the Bank’s policies, risk-based analytics, and econometric practices with a focus on implementing a sound risk management program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economic, or a closely related field required.
  • Experience with risk and control identification, designing, planning, implementing, and testing RCSAs and managing a testing/audit program.
  • Proven track record in researching and analyzing micro and macroeconomic data to identify trends, using statistical models and forecasting tools to prepare reports and advise on policy or business strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, products, and services; experience with risks and controls related to corporate functions (Treasury, HR, Accounting, FP&A).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong influence capabilities.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic environment and manage evolving first line risk programs, including identification, reporting, escalation, and validation of RCSA results and remediation efforts.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules, and industry standards for regional/large banks.
  • Hands-on experience in microeconomic and macroeconomic forecasting and analysis methodologies for bank risk management (especially Corporate and Treasury functions).
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PPT, Visio).
  • Understanding of federal and state laws applicable to EWB.

  • AML/BSA, Payment Fraud, and Digital Banking experience is a plus.
  • Experience developing Key Risk Indicators for first line risk management is a plus.
  • Professional certifications in econometrics or risk management (CIA, PRM, CRMP, NABE Certified Business Economist) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review Treasury Management (Liquidity Risk, Capital Management, Market Risk, Investment Portfolio), Accounting, HR, and FP&A controls to ensure compliance with bank and regulatory standards and identify economic or financial risks.
  • Conduct surveys and research across corporate functions (Treasury, Accounting, HR, etc.) to identify areas of significant regulatory and operational risk; document emerging risks using economic and industry benchmarking data.
  • Interpret and forecast trends related to financial regulatory and economic changes impacting liquidity and capital positions.
  • Lead control assessment and testing to evaluate design and operating effectiveness of first line key controls.
  • Support development of Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) frameworks and methodologies; assess quality of RCSAs completed by managers and recommend updates.
  • Document, analyze, and communicate outcomes related to corporate functions such as Treasury controls; provide assurance reviews for internal teams and external examiners.
  • Research, compile, analyze, and report data to explain complex financial processes and regulatory risks; apply econometric models and statistical techniques to forecast market trends for corporate functions.
  • Assess adherence to regulatory mandates including stress testing (DFAST, ILST), resolution planning, and evaluate risk oversight tools like Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) for accuracy in pricing risk and optimizing capital consumption under regulatory requirements.
  • Identify control gaps or emerging risks through economic analysis, engagement with business units, and external event monitoring; develop Management Action Plans to uplift controls or processes.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to resolve unmitigated operational and regulatory risk exposures; interpret market developments for risk-based decision-making.
  • Draft root cause analyses for internal control gaps or economic findings related to corporate functions.
  • Validate and close control issues identified through analysis or testing results.
  • Drive development of reporting processes and standards; prepare analyses for forecasting trends and formulating internal policies.
  • Use econometric methods, statistical models, and forecasting tools to advise on development and analysis of periodic reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver risk-based analyses and recommendations to senior and executive management.
  • Provide day-to-day management, oversight, and long-term development planning for a risk management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
