About The Position

The First Grade Teacher at St. Louis Catholic Academy is responsible for creating a nurturing, faith-centered learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of young learners. This role emphasizes foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and moral development while fostering a love of learning rooted in Catholic values.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification preferred
• Commitment to Catholic education and values
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with curriculum standards and Catholic teachings
• Provide instruction in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion
• Establish a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and Christian character
• Assess student progress through formal and informal methods and use data to guide instruction and intervention
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students
• Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support school-wide academic and spiritual goals
• Integrate prayer, service, and faith-based principles into daily instruction and classroom routines
• Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement and school-approved discipline procedures
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, liturgical celebrations, and school events
