About The Position

The accounting manager will be responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, analysis and supervision of accounting staff. This individual will report to the Controller and will work closely to ensure that the Firm’s general ledger is accurate and complete.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts with an audience.
  • Ability to interact effectively with attorneys and other key personnel; to manage and exceed expectations; and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy and professionalism in these interactions.
  • Ability to effectively present information in both written and oral formats and respond to questions from all levels of professional and support staff and clients. Ability to effectively present information to top firm management.
  • Ability to write business correspondence, procedure manuals, reports, speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing, and internal control concepts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.

  • Public accounting experience and CPA license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end close process through the completion of journal entries and other close procedures.
  • Review balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis and other related accounting documents and schedules on a monthly basis.
  • Oversee the addition, disposal, and depreciation of the Firm’s fixed assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for the year-end audit.
  • Monitor daily banking activity and reporting including processing ACHs and wire transfers, as needed.
  • Assist in the Firm’s various tax matters.
  • Prepare all equity Partner Compensation materials.
  • Oversee the due diligence process for unclaimed funds and complete all required filings.
  • Monitor workflow, supervise, and provide training and development for two accounting staff.
  • Assist office administrators and office accounting personnel with client trust accounting.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows.
  • Ad hoc analysis.
  • Other duties as requested and assigned.
